Little Cayman Island

In 2025, Jamie and Wanita Chapman felt led to move to Little Cayman Island, where Jamie now pastors the only church, of any denomination, on the island.

Why Little Cayman?

Many people have heard of the Cayman Islands, known for their beautiful beaches and crystal-clear water. The largest island, Grand Cayman, is home to more than 100,000 residents and over 200 churches representing many denominations.

About 75 miles away are the sister islands of Cayman Brac and Little Cayman, located just five miles apart. Cayman Brac has approximately 3,000 residents, around 10 churches, and several businesses.

In contrast, Little Cayman is home to only about 200 residents. The island has just a gas station and a small convenience store. Despite its natural beauty, it offers very few resources—and only one church serving the entire community.

How You Can Help

Financial Support
The church on Little Cayman cannot afford to fully support a pastor, yet the need for pastoral leadership is just as real as anywhere else. The cost of living is significantly higher than in the United States. As of February 2026, gasoline costs approximately $8.40 per gallon, and a gallon of milk is around $9. With no major industries on the island, everything must be imported. It is a beautiful place to live—but that beauty comes with the trade-off of high costs and limited convenience.

Your financial partnership helps make ministry on Little Cayman possible.

Serve as a Short-Term Missionary
Little Cayman is a very safe and welcoming destination for a family mission trip. With virtually no crime, it provides a unique and peaceful setting for ministry.

Opportunities to serve include:

  • Beach clean-up projects

  • Building trash cans

  • Community outreach

  • Sharing the love of Jesus with residents and tourists

Because of the island’s tourism industry, there is a meaningful opportunity to connect with people from around the world. Greeting travelers at the airport or simply spending intentional time on the beach can open doors to share the hope found in Christ.

Pray for the Chapmans
Your prayers are deeply appreciated as Jamie and Wanita continue this work.

Jamie shared a story adapted from Loren Eiseley’s essay The Star Thrower:

Along a beach, millions of starfish had washed ashore and were stranded. A man began picking them up one by one and throwing them back into the ocean. Someone called out, “Do you really think you are making a difference?”
The man picked up another starfish, tossed it into the water, and replied, “I made a difference to that one.”

The Chapmans are faithfully sharing the Good News of Jesus, trusting that even if it makes a difference in just one life, it is worth it. If you would like to speak to Jamie Chapman about partnering with him, please text or call him at (228)861-7141 or email rcbcpastor@yahoo.com
