Since 2001, George and Geraldine Smith have been serving through the International Mission Board (SBC) in Uganda. Primarily, they have been working in establishing churches on the Buvuma Islands in Lake Victoria. They have seen many from various tribes accept Christ and many new churches planted. A Bible Institute has been established, many schools started, and water wells drilled. Currently, they are involved in teaching pastors how to “farm raise” tilapia in Lake Victoria. Since fish farming is not common, this will be a blessing to the pastors economically and nutritionally. Recently, George has expanded his ministry to help refugees on the borders of Tanzania and Somalia.
JCBA churches have participated in over 8 trips to Uganda in the last six years.
April 28, 2017 to May 12, 2017, a team be traveling to Uganda to assist IMB Missionary, George Smith. The team will be divided to accomplish two purposes. 1) A team of 3 or 4 pastors will teach at the Uganda Baptist Seminary in Jinja. 2) A team of 7 to 8 will minister in refugee camps on the borders of Sudan and the Congo. These teams will seek to provide food and medical assistance, as well as evangelize as many as possible.
